Our thanks to all of you who helped make our event on
April 13 such an amazing success!
Doug Lennox from Team Darfur led our Torch Walk, and
there were over 400 walkers, including many families with
children, who came together to raise funds for humanitarian
relief. So far, we have raised over $17,000, and
contributions are still coming in.
Following the Walk, our Rally for Action at First
Congregational Church attracted over 1,000 people. Governor
Corzine spoke about his experiences visiting refugees in the
camps, and Sumiea Eltayeb of the Darfur Rehabilitation
Project spoke eloquently about conditions on the ground in
Darfur today.
A special thanks to all of the people who participated in
our candle lighting Vigil for Darfur. They helped us
remember why we are doing this – and they showed us how,
working together, we can make a difference.
Finally, thanks to David Sanders and his interfaith
choir. Their music moved us and left us energized and ready
to go out and “carry the light” for Darfur.
We will post a full report on the day’s events –
including more photos – over the next few days. In the
meantime, please enjoy the slide show from The Star Ledger.
With heartfelt thanks.
